It is a pleasure to present to you a new international electronic journal, with peer arbitration dedicated to research on the teaching and learning of physics, and related topics.

The idea of the creation of the Latin-American Journal of Physics Education, arose in the World Year of Physics during the International Meeting on Teaching of Physics and the Specialization of Teachers (RIEFEP) held from November 8 to 11, 2005, in the City of Matanzas, Cuba.
